In this article, we mention a few time-saving tips and methods for cleaning the bathroom.
1. Move All Items Outside:
Firstly, to make efficient usage of the time, move all items out of the washroom. Rather than moving things and cleaning as you go, take out all the rugs, mats, products from the shower and bathtub, and move them outside. Also, stuff that is kept on the counter needs to move.
How will this help? Moving things out will give you space to thoroughly clean. It will also save time since you can easily clean all the surfaces without any hindrance.
2. Sweep the Floors:
To make sure the cleaning process doesn’t get messy once you start, dust and sweep the floor before starting cleaning with liquids. Use a duster with a long handle to make sure all dust/cobwebs are removed.
Sweep the floor of any hair or trash since once you get the water flowing, it will just make the cleaning messier and difficult.
3. Apply Cleaning Agents on All Surfaces:
Once you are prepared for the cleaning to start, take cleaning agents and start applying wherever needed. Use an all-purpose cleaner if you keep cleaning the washroom daily, or an acid-based cleaner if you have major muck and dirt build-up in the washroom.
You can also use home-made cleaning agents to clean surfaces that are even better and more efficient when cleaning tough build-ups in the washroom. They will help you save time and effort.
4. Cleaning the Mirror and Glass Shower Doors:
This can be time-consuming and tiresome; however, we have a hack that will make it super easy and will also save you some bucks. It is not necessary that you purchase a costly cleaner, just mix ½ cup of vinegar and ¼ cup alcohol with some water and your cleaning liquid is ready.
Put this in a spray bottle and shake to mix. Spray it on the glass doors and mirrors that need cleaning and wipe with a paper towel or a wipe cloth.
5. Vinegar for a Sparkly Toilet:
The toilets tend to get the dirtiest and need the most amount of scrubbing. White vinegar is an easy and cheap disinfectant that would also leave your toilet sparkling. Just take some white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray it all over the toilet. Let it stay for a while and then lightly scrub.
6. Cleaning the Drain:
Making sure the drain stays clean is very important to avoid any major clogs. One hack for cleaning the drain is to pour hot boiling water, followed by a cup of baking soda. Let this sit for a few minutes. Next, make a mixture of equal parts of white vinegar and water and let it sit again for a few minutes. Then again pour in boiling water to clean. The drains would be unblocked for days.
7. Cleaning the faucets:
The faucets can get stained if not cleaned regularly. However, a slice of lemon will help you do this job easily and without requiring a lot of scrubbing. Just rub a slice of lemon over the stains and see the magic.
8. Cleaning shower curtains:
Mildew infestation usually happens in moist, damp areas. Cleaning the curtains of mildew may take time. We have a tip, however, that would make it easier and simpler for you to clean it. Mix vinegar and salt to form a thick mixture. Apply it to the affected areas and let it dry. Clean it after 1-2 hours with a damp cloth and your curtain would be as clean as new.
9. Scrubbing the gaps between the tiles:
The space between the tiles often gets filled with dirt and grout which is hard to scrub off and may take time. A miracle mixture of one-part borax, two parts baking soda and water will help you save time scrubbing away the dirt. Just apply the mixture and let it stay for a few minutes then scrub it off with a brush.
10. Cleaning the bathtub:
Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda in 2 cups of warm water. Add in this mixture ½ cup of ammonia. Spray this mixture on the bathtub and let it stay for a few minutes. Scrub with a brush for a shiny and bright bathtub.
The trick is to apply all the cleaning liquids first and let them sit while you clean the ceiling or do some other chores. When you have let the liquids sit for a few minutes, clean the surfaces one by one.
We also have some general tips which if you follow will save you time in your cleaning routines:
- Keep your cleaning supplies in the washroom: Make sure all your cleaning supplies are kept in one cabinet inside the washroom. Make your home-made cleaning agents and store them in spray bottles inside the cabinet too. This will help save the time taken to gather the supplies before starting a clean-up. You can easily take out the needed supplies and get the job done even right after a shower.
Also, having cleaning supplies at your disposal will help you clean a mess right when it is made rather than waiting for some time later when it might get difficult to clean.
- Place a bag inside the dustbin: Placing a bag inside the garbage bin will help you easily dispose of the garbage when needed. You will not have to scoop the garbage out which will take time and effort.
It will also keep your dustbin clean and tidy, and save on time that otherwise would be required to clean the garbage pail.
- Clean your washbasin after every use: One easy way to make sure you have less gunk to clean later, wipe and clean your washbasin after every use. Old dried gunk is also tougher to clean. It will take more time to scrape it off later, hence, clean it right after every use.
Cleaning the washroom is undoubtedly a difficult and time-consuming chore, but following the above-mentioned tips and methods will surely help you in performing this chore efficiently and in lesser time than usual.
